First Alert Forecast: Lighter trades with a chance for brief heavy showers

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Trade winds will ease and shift more from the east-southeast Sunday. An upper-level trough will bring more high clouds along with a slight chance of isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and Monday. Otherwise, showers should be limited.

The trough should move off to the east late Monday, resulting in light and variable winds with a chance for showers over interior areas in the late morning and afternoons. Trade winds should rebuild Thursday and Friday.

Surf will be on the small side Sunday. A very small bump will boost waves for north shores, but it will start going flat again by Sunday afternoon. A northeast swell could bring some higher waves peaking on Wednesday…
