Halawa inmate found fit to stand trial in alleged murder of cellmate

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Halawa Correctional Facility inmate will stand trial nearly two years after prosecutors say he killed his cellmate.

A judge on Monday accepted the results of a mental health evaluation finding Daniel Smith competent to stand trial on a charge of first-degree murder.
