Historic JAIMS building in Hawaii Kai to open for first-ever public tour

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The public will get to see inside a historic building in Hawaii Kai that has an uncertain future. Grassroots group Haha’ione Advocates for Respectful Development will host a first-ever public open house at the 53-year-old former JAIMS building on Hawaii Kai Drive on Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Inside the property

The building has 11 classrooms, and almost each room has a view of one of the 24 monkeypod trees on the property.

“Many people have driven past this historic building and never really known what it did or how it looks inside so we wanted to open it up so people can see the possibilities for its use,” said Cheryl Park of Haha’ione Advocates for Responsible Development.
