Inwood Forest Village petition sparks renewed calls for Texas HOA laws

TEXAS — An ongoing battle against a Houston homeowners association (HOA) involving allegations of stolen funds, questionable foreclosures and years of scandal has ignited a new push for state laws protecting property owners.

Neighbors in the Inwood Forest Village subdivision are questioning where their HOA money is going and whether the organization is even legitimate. In the latest battle, they started a petition to remove the entire HOA board, collecting signatures outside the gate of the closed community pool in early May.

“Then we can vote them out and reestablish our legal HOA board members,” said Cinda Jones, a resident who described some of the alleged dynamics that have sparked ongoing complaints. “The HOA was dissolved, and they found out the president was stealing all the money, and he moved out of the neighborhood, then they re-established it by themselves.”…
