Midwest chain Culver’s planning first Spring location, Texas permit reveals

A Midwestern burger restaurant chain, and a JJ Watt-favorite, appears to be expanding to another part of Houston’s suburbs. An official announcement has yet to be made, but a permit reveals a new Culver’s is opening in Spring at the site of an old Bank of America.

A permit filed Monday with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows a new Culver’s restaurant will be built at 18603 Kuykendahl Rd., the former site of a Bank of America financial center. What once housed the bank’s 24-hour ATM will soon be replaced by a 4,453-square-foot drive-thru restaurant. According to the filing, crews could break ground as soon as September, with construction for the estimated $1.85 million project expected to last through fall 2027. Don’t take this as an opening date.

Craig and Lea Culver and his parents opened their namesake restaurant in Sauk City, Wis. in 1984. Since then, they’ve taken their “butterburgers”, fried cheese curds and custard beyond the Midwest, with more than 1,000 locations across 26 states. Culver’s expansion to Spring would mark the chain’s seventh in the Houston-area, joining its other restaurants in Atascocita, Conroe, Fulshear, Katy, Kingwood and soon Humble. An opening date has yet to be revealed for that location, but the TDLR filing indicates that construction is set to be completed at the end of July.
