A new master-planned community northwest of Houston has officially opened, with plans to welcome hundreds of residents.
Oakberry Trails—a Ryko development in Waller—celebrated its grand opening Saturday with a family friendly event featuring food trucks, a petting zoo, a kids activity zone, outdoor games and live entertainment, according to a Facebook post from the development. The 262-acre project is slated to bring more than 900 homes to Waller County.
Approximately 76 homes in the community have sold and roughly 60 families have moved in, developers told the Houston Business Journal. The first phase of the development includes 317 lots, while construction on the second phase is already underway. Ryko Development did not immediately respond to Chron’s request for comment.
The community is designed to give residents “room to breathe and space to connect,” according to its website. Homes start at around $300,000 in what developers describe as an “outdoor-centric” development with a farmhouse-style community center, pool, lakes, greenspaces, trails and more.
The company broke ground on the development in 2024 after initially acquiring 215 acres for a planned 800-home community. The name, Oakberry Trails, pays tribute to the family that previously owned the ranch land, which features a former fishing pond and cattle watering hole…
