NASA fighter jets soar into Wings Over Houston airshow for first time at Ellington Airport

NASA fighter jets tore through the sky over Ellington Airport on Sunday in the company of vintage aircraft blasting off at this year’s Wings Over Houston air show.

Wings Over Houston sends World War II-era planes and other modern aircraft soaring through the air, and multiple NASA jets made their first appearance at the show this year. NASA’s T-38 supersonic jet trainer conducted its first flyover at the event, and NASA also touted five of its “Freedom 250” F-5 fighter jets, celebrating the country’s 250th birthday.

The event is one of the largest displays of civilian and military aircraft in North America, according to Wings Over Houston. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds headlined the show this year, and other aircraft included vintage Japanese war birds, the world’s only Christen Eagles aerobatic team and a hot pink jet in support of breast cancer awareness.
