WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — A dog who was rescued from a shipping container in Texas arrived in the DMV, where she hopes to find her new home through a rescue.
U.S. Coast Guard Officer Ryan McMahon was inspecting shipping containers at the Port of Houston in Texas on Jan. 31 when he and his team heard barking from a container that was stacked about 25 feet in the air, the Associated Press reported.
Officers brought the crate to the ground and were greeted by Connie, the dog who officials said had been stuck inside for at least eight days with no food or water.
The U.S. Coast Guard shared a video on Facebook of Connie’s sendoff from Texas on Tuesday afternoon.
Forever Changed Animal Rescue , a rescue based in D.C., Maryland and Virginia, brought her to the DMV to recover and look for a home.
In a post on Facebook after midnight on Wednesday, the rescue said that Connie had arrived safely after a personal flight from Pilots N Paws, an organization that helps transport rescue animals by air. Forever Changed said that Karan Kapoor of Texas and Seuk Kim of Virginia helped bring her to them.
