Willie Issac Bernard Ewing, 33, has been arrested and charged in relation to the death of a woman. The woman, Sierra Hayes, 29, was found dead at 13100 Halifax Street on January 11. Ewing is charged with tampering with a corpse and is currently in hospital. The cause of Hayes’ death is still under investigation by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Sergeants M. Burrow and R. Watson from the Houston Police Department (HPD) Homicide Division responded to a call about an unresponsive person at the same address. They found Hayes’ body in a ditch. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department confirmed her death at the scene.
Ewing was identified as a suspect during the investigation. He was arrested on February 5 by the HPD Gang Division’s Crime Reduction Unit. A mugshot of Ewing from November 2023 has been released.
The investigation into Hayes’ death is still ongoing. The cause and manner of her death are yet to be determined. An autopsy is expected to provide more information.
