Texas man sentenced to life in prison for murder in Okaloosa County

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. ( WKRG ) — An Okaloosa County jury found a Texas man guilty Friday of attempted first-degree premeditated murder, first-degree premeditated murder and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.

Ledesma Vonzell Wooden, 29, of Houston, Texas, was sentenced to mandatory life in prison, according to the Office of State Attorney First Judicial Court of Florida.

The incident occurred on Oct. 31, 2018, at what used to be a Greyhound Bus Station. Wooden was terminated from a company that assisted in removing debris following Hurricane Michael .

According to the State Attorney’s release, Wooden was arguing with his former supervisor about the company not paying his airfare to fly back to Texas. It said that he walked to his bag, retrieved a gun and shot at his former supervisor.

Wooden shot another crew member in the leg and killed the driver of a work van, the release said.
