Jocelyn Nungaray’s family vow to ‘get’ killers as ‘shy’ 12-year-old is laid to rest

Hundreds of people gathered to pay their respects at the funeral of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray from Texas , who was found dead in a creek close to her home. The young girl was commemorated for her passion for books and animals on Thursday.

The service saw the presence of notable figures including Houston’s Democratic Mayor John Whitmire and Cecilia Abbott, the spouse of Texas Governor Greg Abbott. “We’re sad but we’re outraged and angry that this would happen in our community,” expressed Whitmire, who took office in December, addressing the crowd of mourners.

“We’re going to monitor this case all the way through the criminal justice system,” he promised. It was on June 17 that Jocelyn’s body was discovered in a creek. After an examination, it was concluded by the medical examiner that she had been strangled. Reports indicate that she had left her house secretly the previous night.
