HOUSTON (KIAH) – A man is in custody after being pulled from Galveston Bay in attempt to escape a scene where he allegedly killed a Harris County Sheriff’s Office Precinct 4 deputy. Deputy Maher Husseini was promoted just last week. Today, he leaves behind a wife and two children.
6:45 p.m. UPDATE Deputy saluted at hospital
Deputy Constable Husseini was transported to Ben Taub Hospital where he passed away. Harris County Sheriff’s Office Precinct 4 posted photos of Deputy Husseini’s coffin draped with an American flag and saluted by law enforcement Tuesday evening.
5:20 p.m. UPDATE Suspect captured
Suspected shooter is taken into custody in Galveston Bay after his vehicle was spotted via traffic cameras that followed him to Galveston Bay. That’s where he crashed his vehicle before 5 p.m. Tuesday afternoon and was seen bobbing in the water. Several deputies were standing along a pier where the man was in the water before being pulled into custody.
