( KRON ) — The mother of Dondrei Hubbard, a star outfielder for the Oakland Ballers, was murdered in Texas last week, according to a GoFundMe created by Hubbard.
Heather Smith was found dead by her boyfriend in her home after she stopped responding to his messages and calls, local Houston outlets reported . Hubbard said the killer was “an individual known to cause havoc in the neighborhood.”

“She was my closest friend and confidant. My sister and I, along with our family, are devastated to share this news,” Hubbard said.
Christopher Braziel, 42, was arrested and charged with capital murder, according to KPRC in Houston. Smith’s boyfriend found the door to Smith’s house kicked in and his girlfriend with multiple gunshot wounds when he came to check on her.
KPRC further reported that surveillance video shows the suspect pulling into Smith’s driveway right after she arrived home. He then allegedly went in and out of the home three times with a gun visible.
