MARTIN COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a crash that left two people dead in Martin County earlier this week.
According to a crash report, around 1:45 p.m. on September 19, troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 349, near mile marker 300. Investigators said the driver of a semi-truck, heading northbound on SH 349, was stopped in the inside lane, preparing to turn west into a private drive, when he was struck from behind by a Jeep Wrangler.
The driver of the Jeep, identified as 19-year-old Shelby Carroll, of Huffman, Texas, and her passenger, identified as 22-year-old Lorin Parks, of Paducah, Texas, were pronounced dead at the scene from injuries they sustained in the crash. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
