HOUSTON, TX – According to Case No. 202468864-7 filed in Harris County District Court, the mother of Hailey Reed has filed a civil suit against Ruchi’s El Rincon De Mexico #9, Inc., alleging that the restaurant’s service of alcohol to her underage daughter contributed to her death.
The lawsuit claims that Hailey Reed, 19, was served alcohol at Ruchi’s El Rincon De Mexico #9, located at 6410 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas, on October 15, 2022. Later that night, Hailey was fatally struck by a vehicle in the 6400 block of Westheimer Road, with her intoxication alleged as a contributing factor.
The plaintiff seeks over $1,000,000 in damages, including compensation for mental anguish, loss of companionship, and future financial loss. The dram-shop claim asserts that serving alcohol to a minor was illegal and directly led to the tragic accident.
