While many marvel at the second half of the New York Jets’ 21-13 win over the Houston Texans at MetLife Stadium, some are forgetting what transpired in the first half.
With boos raining down from the stands after the very first offensive drive, the Jets produced what could easily be described as the worst half of football of the year.
In total, the offense mustered just 69 total yards, Aaron Rodgers was seven-for 14 with 32 passing yards, there was only one third-down conversion, and they punted five times.
Receiver Davante Adams, who had seven catches for 91 yards and a touchdown, revealed why the offense struggled so badly in the first half.
“We had trouble getting on the same page with everybody out there at the beginning,” Adams said . “We came out tripping a little bit. I think everybody relaxed once they realized it was just a football game like every other one. I felt a sense of it was almost too much urgency. It was like do or die every single time we go out there. You want to obviously maximize your opportunities, but you don’t want to be out there feeling like you’re pressing and people trying to make Herculean efforts to score. But it started flowing a little bit better, ball started coming to the playmakers, and guys made plays.”
