Heavy Showers & Thunderstorms Possible Across Parts of Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi

Freeze Warnings Continue Overnight Tonight in Areas of Goergia & Florida

Good morning everyone. Cold air remains locked into the Northeast with another reinforcing blast of cold air set to come through on Thursday. This one will be a big wind-maker, with blustery conditions and scattered showers & light snow behind it. We’ll keep the chilly to cold air around through the weekend, and that may help set the stage for some onset freezing rain and/or snow some time between Monday & Tuesday with our next storm system.

Elsewhere, unseasonably cold air has reached all the way down into the Southeast and remains very stubborn. Heavy frost and freeze conditions are expected once again tonight into early tomorrow morning throughout parts of Georgia and Florida. The main focus of sub-freezing temperatures looks to be south-central and Georgia and parts of north Florida. Temperatures will likely modify Friday, then a much milder weekend expected.

Meanwhile, we have ourselves some much-needed rain developing across the southernmost region of Texas as some Gulf of Mexico energy comes ashore. Look for scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms moving across the area, then eventually things lift northward and to the northeast. Over the course of the next couple of days, we’ll have heavy showers and thunderstorms develop in cities such as Houston and Dallas, then cross over into Louisiana and Mississippi as that energy gets pushed back towards the Gulf Coast.
