For over a decade, The Shack Houston, a beloved Black woman-owned restaurant in the heart of Houston’s South Side, has been a go-to spot for BBQ, soul food, and community connection.
But now, the family-owned eatery faces an uncertain future, with just two months to turn things around.
In an emotional video shared on the restaurant’s Instagram page, one of the owners made a heartfelt plea to the community:
“Hello everyone, our family-owned restaurant is at risk of closing for good. We only have two months left, and we can’t do it without you. If you’ve ever enjoyed a delicious meal here, made a memory with your family, or simply love supporting local businesses, we need you.”
The post, captioned “Let’s save a South Side gem!”, urged Houstonians to grab a friend, enjoy a meal, or share the video to help the restaurant stay afloat.
A Decade of Flavor and Love
