Pertussis cases hit decade high as vaccination rates decline, health officials urge caution

HOUSTON – With the holidays still in full swing, a surge in pertussis cases, also known as whooping cough, has health officials on high alert including here at home. According to the CDC, whooping cough cases are at a decade high level, reporting there are six times as many cases this year compared to last year.
