Sunday Press owners are trying to replace stolen funds for the second time after a person broke into the café on Ella Boulevard early Tuesday and stole a safe with around $1,000 inside.
Another Sunday Press location in Spring Branch suffered a similar fate when its safe was stolen last year, co-founder Cassie Ghaffar told the Chronicle. Both times, customers, friends and family soon arrived at each location to offer their support.
A driver, who delivers pastries to Sunday Press locations in Houston, stopped by the café at 3315 Ella Blvd. Tuesday morning to pick up the truck and saw a shattered left window and broken glass on the ground, Ghaffar said.

The driver looked through surveillance footage which showed a person, wearing a black hoodie and mask, using what appears to be some crowbar to force their way through the window at 3:15 a.m. They walked through the dining area with a flashlight toward the kitchen and the safe, which was small enough to be carried by a person.
