3 teenagers who died in Spring-area police chase have been identified

The three teenagers killed during a police chase with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office last week have been identified as Christopher Granados and Justin Cruz, both 14, and 16-year-old Alexander Romero.

No weapons were found in a search of the vehicle, which was involved in a 45-second chase on Sorrel Ridge Drive shortly after midnight on Jan. 2, the sheriff’s office confirmed.

Services have been planned for the three that died, and over 100 people have donated a combined $6,000 in just a few days to GoFundMe pages for the families. Romero and Cruz attended Klein Collins High School and Granados attended Klein Oak High School, according to Klein Independent School District’s spokesman Justin Elbert.

“Our thoughts are with the families that are affected by this tragedy,” Elbert said on behalf of the district.

A GoFundMe for Romero’s family was started by his older cousin, Cristina Romero, who wrote in English and Spanish that Alexander left behind his parents, older sister and baby brother “with only memories to remember him.”
