Two members of ABC 13 Houston are leaving the channel to join a sister station on the West Coast. Wendy Granato , president and general manager of ABC 7/KABC-TV in Los Angeles , announced she is adding investigative reporter Kevin Ozebek to the station’s award-winning investigative team “starting immediately.” Brandon De Hoyos, ABC 13’s director of community engagement, will also move to Los Angeles next month to succeed Teresa Samaniego, who is retiring after 45 years.
Granato was formerly the president and general manager of ABC 13 until she left for Los Angeles in July 2024. In September 2024, she was succeeded by Mike Carr, who joined ABC 13 from ABC 30 in Fresno, Calif.
“There are many parallels between the Los Angeles and Houston markets —both have robust economies, layers of complex government oversight, communities defined by their rich cultural diversity and many of the same environmental challenges—drought, fires and intense windstorms, so both Kevin and Brandon have cut their teeth on many of the same issues as all of you,” Granato wrote. “And of course, I know them both well and know they have a lot to offer this team.”…
