HOUSTON, Texas — A 58-year-old woman from Prairie View has been sentenced to federal prison for embezzling funds while employed at a credit union, announced U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei. Gloria Hall pleaded guilty to the charges earlier this year.
U.S. District Judge Charles Eskridge sentenced Hall to 24 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. She is also required to pay restitution of $211,563.12 to her victims, who were clients of the Prairie View Federal Credit Union, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The court noted the significant impact of Hall’s actions on the credit union, which was forced to merge with another institution due to her theft.
“Protecting our most senior and vulnerable citizens from fraud is a vital mission of this office,” said Ganjei. Hall’s fraudulent activities, which took place from 2017 to 2019 while she was a manager at the credit union, involved maintaining outdated business practices that prevented customers from accessing their accounts online.
