HOUSTON ( KIAH ) — The National Weather Service (NWS) released a special weather statement for Houston. They are predicting strong thunderstorms that will impact Galveston, eastern Fort Bend, south-central Montgomery County, areas northeast of Brazoria and Chambers counties, plus southern Liberty and Harris counties throughout the morning.

Just before 3 a.m. doppler radar detected strong thunderstorms along the line extending from Greenway to the Upper Kirby area, moving at 45 mph. This storm could merge with another line to the southwest.

The impact could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecure objects. The storms could bring on hail that has the potential to damage vegetation in the following areas:
- Jacinto City, Northshore, Scholes Field, Cloverleaf, Downtown
- Houston, Anahuac, Langwood, Clinton Park Tri-Community, Minute Maid
- Park, Cove, Independence Heights, Galveston State Park, The Johnson
- Space Center, Hunters Creek Village, Galveston Island West End,
- Spring, Westbranch, Webster, Santa Fe, and Rollover Pass.
