Houston Teen Honored as Honorary Investigator by St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office Amid Cancer Battle

13-year-old Devarjaye Daniel from Houston, Texas was honored with the title of honorary investigator by the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office this past Tuesday. The occasion, held at the Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel, saw the young hero, who has been combatting brain and spinal cancer since he was seven, formally accepted into the ranks by more than 1,100 police departments from across the nation that he has been sworn in by to date.

According to a press release from the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office, during a ceremony that saw participation from over 200 law enforcement agencies, young DJ took the Oath of Office. Not only was he granted the title of honorary investigator, DJ also received patches from each agency, an act signifying a collective embrace from the law enforcement community. The support, which has now been provided of over 1,100 police departments, remains a testament to DJ’s indomitable spirit.

“DJ’s strength and determination are an inspiration. Despite facing immense challenges, he continues to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer,” said St. Louis Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore in the same release. “We are proud to honor him as an honorary investigator and stand with him as he inspires others to persevere and never give up.”…
