A tornado warning was briefly in effect until 2 p.m. Friday for parts of Harris and Liberty counties in Southeast Texas, the National Weather Service said.
Doppler radar indicated that at 1:37 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Crosby, or 8 miles southwest of Dayton, moving east at 15 mph. The weather service stated that reports of quarter-size or larger hail have been associated with this storm.
If you are in the path of similar storms, take cover now by moving to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, and avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
