Judge set to make ruling in Texas Renaissance Festival lawsuit over alleged withdrawal from $60 million sale

The Texas Renaissance Festival is an annual fall event that’s been held for more than 50 years in a small town about 55 miles northwest of Houston. It was the subject of a 2024 documentary series called “Ren Faire” that streamed on Max.

A judge’s ruling is forthcoming in a multi-year lawsuit against the Texas Renaissance Festival for allegedly backing out of a deal to sell the Houston-area event and its property for $60 million.

The civil lawsuit, filed in August 2023 by a group of prospective buyers, was in a court trial for several days last week in Grimes County. The Grimes County District Clerk’s office said Wednesday the trial is complete and the presiding judge is expected to make a ruling this week.
