Softball community rallies behind family devastated by deadly wrong-way I-45 wreck

HOUSTON — A family who lost two members in a devastating wrong-way crash in late March is expressing gratitude for the outpouring of community support, particularly from the local softball community.

The Munive family suffered unimaginable tragedy when a red F-150 pickup truck slammed into their SUV on I-45, killing mother Brittany and son DJ, while leaving father Dario and daughter Mila injured. Police have charged the alleged driver of the F-150 with multiple counts of intoxication manslaughter.

“Overall it’s just a charitable event to continue to assist financially. They have an army behind them so it’s a beautiful, beautiful thing to see that not only is it a family presence but the community as well,” Mario Munive, a cousin of the family, told KHOU 11 on Friday…
