A 27-year-old man, identified as Thomas Bartram, was shot by Sugar Land police during a confrontation on a Greatwood neighborhood golf course last Tuesday. Click2Houston reports that the incident took place near the areas of Greatwood Lake and Forestlake Drive. Bartram, after allegedly firing gunshots into the ground, was met by Sugar Land police and was wounded in the ensuing standoff. He is now being treated for his injuries while in police custody and, upon hospital release, will be transported to the Fort Bend County Jail with a bond set at $1 million.
Responding to calls from residents, three officers found Bartram discharging a firearm into the ground and, according to Sugar Land Police Chief Pete Lara, they were compelled to quickly engage. “there was a confrontation between the officers and the man, and the officers ended up shooting him,” Lara said, as Click2Houston highlights. No residents or officers were reported injured in the incident.
Bartram currently faces multiple pending felony charges that have warranted a $1 million bond. The suspect has not been named by KHOU 11, given that charges at the time of their report had not been officially filed.
