Man charged with arson in fire that destroyed Houston seafood restaurant

HOUSTON (KIAH) – A man has been charged in connection with the devastating fire that destroyed Captain Benny’s Seafood Restaurant on Hwy 290 in northwest Houston.

Christian Dumser, 41, is facing charges of Criminal Mischief totaling over $300,000 and Reckless Arson of a Building. Authorities with the Houston Fire Department said Dumser was arrested Tuesday after a warrant was issued tied to the May 27 fire at the restaurant.

HFD responded early that morning put out the fire but the restaurant was declared a total loss, with damage estimated at $1.5 million…
