FRIENDSWOOD — The heat didn’t keep the crowd away Friday morning as residents gathered along FM 518 for the city’s annual Fourth of July parade.
The parade stepped off shortly after 10 a.m., led by the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard. From there, more than 100 vehicles rolled through the heart of Friendswood, joined by participants on foot waving flags and greeting families who lined the sidewalks.
Despite temperatures, hundreds — possibly thousands — turned out for the event, many arriving early to claim a shaded spot or setting up umbrellas and coolers along the curb.
Friendswood emergency services received loud applause as they made their way through the parade route. Little league teams followed behind, smiling and waving in uniform.
