Cy-Fair ISD saw two elementary campuses master all STAAR test subjects at the fifth-grade level this year, meaning the northwest Harris County district of 118,000 students beat out its neighbor, Katy ISD, which only had one campus master all three subjects.
Out of the district’s 59 elementary campuses, Pope and McGown elementaries were the only schools in Cy-Fair ISD to see their fifth graders master all three subjects on this year’s STAAR exam. And the district almost had a third campus on the list — Byrd Elementary School almost made the cutoff because students mastered reading and science, but fell two points short of the cutoff score for mastering the math test.
