Whitmire calls out former city employee for ‘deeply inappropriate’ online posts

HOUSTON (KIAH) — Houston Mayor John Whitmire has released a statement following the controversy surrounding former City of Houston employee identified on social media as ‘Sade Perkins‘.

Perkins has been under fire since social media users found allegedly disparaging comments and video responses on her accounts regarding the victims of the Central Texas flash flood tragedy.

Perkins’ alleged comments, considered ‘deeply inappropriate’ by Mayor Whitmire, prompted many, including the mayor, to call her out for her statements.

“The comments shared on social media are deeply inappropriate and have no place in a decent society,” Whitmire said. “Especially as families grieve the confirmed deaths and the ongoing search for the missing.”

Whitmire identified Perkins and confirmed that she is a former city employee who was appointed to Houston’s Food Insecurity Board by former Mayor Turner in 2023.

However, her term ended in January. Whitmire said he has no plans to reappoint her and will be taking ‘immediate steps’ to remove her permanently…
