Family of murdered nursing student Tamilore Odunsi files $65M lawsuit in her May death

The family of a British nursing student stabbed to death in April filed a $65 million lawsuit against the property manager, who they said did not properly screen the roommate accused in her death.

Elizabeth Odunsi, known to friends and family as Tamilore or Tami, was stabbed more than a dozen times on April 26, allegedly by her roommate Chester Grant, 40, at the residence at 6510 Goforth St. in Houston’s South Side. Grant has since been charged with murder and remains in Harris County Jail.

Odunsi, who moved to the U.S. at 17 to become a nurse, had been living with Grant while she attended nursing school at Texas Woman’s University, where she was set to graduate days before her death. She was assigned to live with Grant by property management company For A Place to Live, which advertises itself as an “off-campus housing service provider in Houston,” according to its website…
