Houston Solid Waste director reveals credit card abuse, inadequate fleet tracking at department

As complaints with Houston’s Solid Waste operations keep rising, the department’s interim director on Wednesday revealed it has had some employees in the director’s office not working 40-hour weeks, others flying in the face of a return-to-work city ordinance and working from home, and potential credit card abuse.

Larrius Hassan, the Solid Waste interim director, gave a report to Houston council members as the department faced criticism from some of its employees for the department’s shortcomings during the council’s public comment period last week.
