HOUSTON (KIAH) — After a 10 year hiatus, the award-winning production of “Crowns” is back and better than ever! This musical celebrates the faith, family, and the vibrant cultural heritage of African American women and their iconic church hats. And you can see it this weekend in Houston.
In Partnership with World Youth Foundation, and a collaboration of nonprofits, and led by Beulah’s Legacy, the goal is to empower the community, at every stage. The musical hits the stage in Houston this Saturday, July 19, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at The Community Collective (formerly known as The Power Center).
I talked with three of the stars of this hit show, about the purpose and meaning of women’s hats in church, and how they are used as a teaching tool to lift others up… all in style.
