Exclusive: Houston jeweler Franco Valobra designed Kendra Scott’s engagement ring from Zac Brown

When it came time for Zac Brown to propose to Kendra Scott, the country singer and songwriter turned to his longtime friend and collaborator, Franco Valobra. Valobra Master Jewelers was founded in 1905; the jewelry house opened its first atelier in Houston approximately 12 years ago.

“They met through mutual friends a little over 10 years ago and stayed in touch as his personal jeweler,” says Kristen Cannon, a representative for Valobra Master Jewelers. “Franco is a big fan of his music.”

Brown, the lead singer of the Zac Brown Band, has previously collaborated with Valobra to create custom jewelry. Which is exactly how they designed a one-of-a-kind engagement ring for Scott, the executive chairwoman, designer and former CEO of the Kendra Scott brand.

Brown reached out to Valobra in May 2025 to begin the process. Together, they selected a 3.06-carat fancy pink (GIA certified-VVS2) diamond to be set within 28 baguette-cut brilliant white diamonds, weighing a total of 3.17 carats in platinum gold…
