Houston Man Charged with Intoxication Manslaughter in Fatal Weekend Crash

A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal crash that claimed the life of an unidentified woman this past weekend in Houston. According to a news release from the City of Houston, James Tzu-Chi Yen now faces intoxication manslaughter charges after he allegedly hit a Ford Focus from behind with his black Volkswagen ID4, causing the vehicle to strike a traffic light pole and catch fire.

The collision occurred at approximately 3 a.m. last Saturday at the 12000 block of South Sam Houston Parkway West’s service road—the Ford was at a red light when the incident unfolded. Yen was found to be impaired at the scene and taken into custody. The authorities identified Sergeant M. Sudduth and Officer R. Guzman of the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division as the reporting officers on the scene.

The Houston Fire Department paramedics who arrived at the location pronounced the female driver of the Ford Focus dead at the scene; her identity is yet to be released, pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences…
