Alex Cardenas’ family seeks answers after video of death released. Here are some unanswered questions

The family of Alexis Cardenas said the release of a 17-minute video showing the 32-year-old’s struggle with multiple Harris County Jail detention officers hours before his death left them with more questions.

The video made public Friday by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office shows Cardenas on July 8 refusing to leave the jail after his release. Multiple detention officers grab him, push him to the ground and start pulling him toward the exit.

Cardenas struggled with the officers for several minutes before he was handcuffed and placed on his stomach while multiple officers applied pressure to his back. Eventually, officers discovered Cardenas was unresponsive and administered CPR before he was taken to St. Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced dead…
