Labor Day protest in Houston’s Galleria to target ‘billionaire takeover,’ organizers say

A nationwide movement of Labor Day protests branded as a fight against a “billionaire takeover” of the government could rally crowds in the Galleria area on Sept.1 in support of social rights.

A nationwide labor movement called “May Day Strong” will organize a Houston march as part of a series of protests planned on Labor Day across the country, according to a webpage for the effort. The event, which does not yet have a specific location beyond the Galleria area, would protest federal funding that organizers say benefits billionaires and immigration enforcement instead of stronger social services like health care, housing and education.
