Jose Vargas has been taken into custody by the Houston Police Department (HPD) in connection with a series of disturbing incidents at Mason Park in East Houston, where women were targeted while jogging. According to an HPD statement and as reported by CW39, Vargas is facing charges of assault and indecent exposure following his arrest at 7211 Harrisburg.
Several accusers have detailed their experiences, including one woman who, according to an ABC13 interview, said that a man chased her down and grabbed her from behind until she could escape. As the HPD pieced together reports from at least seven people about a suspicious man in the park between Aug. 21 and last Wednesday, witness descriptions all bore a striking similarity.
