A defense attorney for Gonzalo Leon Jr., the man accused of killing Julian Guzman in late August, said Monday he planned to file a court motion in which he alleges an “older cousin” of Guzman’s was arrested for unlawfully carrying a gun at the scene of the shooting. But a Houston Police Department spokesperson called it a coincidence and said the department has no evidence the man arrested is related to Guzman or knew him.
A Houston Police Department (HPD) spokesperson said Monday that a gun-related arrest made the night Gonzalo Leon Jr. allegedly shot and killed 11-year old Julian Guzman during a “ding dong ditch” prank last month was an unrelated incident.
According to Harris County court documents, 19-year-old Santos Manuel Pulido was arrested on a charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon at approximately the same time and location as the fatal shooting of Guzman.
Leon’s defense attorney, Gianpaulo Macerola, said Monday that he planned to file a court motion in which he alleges an “older cousin” of Guzman’s was arrested on a gun-possession charge at the scene of the shooting.
