A former Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer who smuggled $500,000 for people he believed were drug dealers, but were actually undercover FBI agents, was sentenced Tuesday to five years in federal prison.
Christopher Washington Toral, 49, joined ICE in 2008, and worked on the border before transferring to a job as a deportation officer at the Montgomery Processing Center. He worked at the center from 2022 to 2024, the year he was indicted and arrested by the FBI on money-laundering charges.
