It’s been a rough couple of years for Texas workers, particularly in the Eastern half of the state. Massive manufacturers have shuttered plants, moving production out of the state or even across borders, and other companies have simply reorganized or automated systems cutting more jobs. The streak of mass layoffs continues in Texas in September as nearly 500 more jobs are lost.
In the far reaches of East Texas, nearly crossing into Louisiana, a leading manufacturer of dehumidification, humidification and cooling systems based out of Switzerland is shutting down a plant. As a result, 51 full-time employees in Center, Texas, will be joining the unemployment line between November 3 and January 5, according to a filing with the Texas Workforce Commission.
A letter with the state confirms Condair Group will be shuttering its plant located at 721 FM 2468 in Center toward the end of 2025…
