Leader Behind Houston-area Armed Robberies With High School Classmates Sentenced To Nearly 20 Years In Prison

Federal prosecutors announced that the mastermind behind a string of armed robberies in the Houston area, along with his former classmates, will serve nearly two decades in prison.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas, Danial Starr, 21, pleaded guilty to two charges of helping and abetting robbery and two counts of aiding and abetting the brandishing of a firearm.

Prosecutors say Starr and three other men (his former high school buddies) committed a series of gunpoint robberies in January 2024. On January 27, the gang targeted three Houston tobacco shops and a booze store.
