No serial killer in Houston, Mayor Whitmire says, after five bodies pulled from bayous

Houston Police had told Houston Public Media there was no connection between the drownings. Some social media users created a conspiracy theory that Houston has a serial killer.

Houston Mayor John Whitmire said there is no evidence of a serial killer operating in Houston, shutting down a conspiracy theory propagated on social media, in the wake of multiple dead bodies being pulled from local bayous in the last week.

“There is no evidence that there is a serial killer loose on the streets in Houston, Texas,” Whitmire said in a Tuesday afternoon press conference. “If there was, you would hear it from me first.”
