HOUSTON (KIAH) – A front yard in a densely populated Hispanic neighborhood is drawing attention and raising eyebrows after residents noticed an unsettling display. In the yard are two life-sized mannequins wearing red caps and face masks. The mannequins hang from a wooden frame by a rope, and a third mannequin dressed in a poncho and straw hat stands next to them and over a fourth mannequin lying on the ground, tied up. This scene is all set next to two coffins near a Mexican flag. All surrounded by a barbed wire fence with a no trespassing sign.
The display, set up in a quiet street in the second ward, has quickly become a topic of conversation for residents who drive by. One man we spoke to off-camera mentioned that the display has received mixed reactions. CW39 saw some people stop and stare as they drove by the home.
The photo of the display first appeared on “X,” where it garnered nearly 300,000 responses and comments, some expressing disapproval. CW39 has attempted to contact the homeowner about the display and its meaning…
