Fire ignites in Third Ward apartment building Sunday night; at least 1 injured, HFD says

A four-unit apartment building caught fire in Houston’s Third Ward Sunday night, sending at least one person to the hospital.

Firefighters were dispatched to the building on the 3700 block of Tuam Street at around 11:15 p.m., according to OnScene TV. Firefighters found flames coming out of its second floor windows, Houston Fire Department District Chief Justin Wells told OnScene TV. He said the fire started in one of two second-floor apartments, injured a neighbor who was living across the hall and damaged both of the apartments on that floor.

The neighbor was taken to a local hospital, and the resident from the unit that caught fire was undergoing EMS evaluation. Firefighters found no other residents as they searched the building…
