T here was a time when the most eye-catching thing on Interstate 45 wasn’t a parade of Pusch & Nguyen billboards. So it was nice to find a safe harbor from the enduring gaze of personal injury attorneys at a delightful little diner at the corner of the Gulf Freeway and Loop 610.
Dot Coffee Shop is a Pappas restaurant, and it shows right when you walk in: tight branding, a packed dining room, and a little wait. At 2 p.m. there were two groups ahead of me, and I had to linger in the entryway for 10 minutes before a table opened up. It’s a busy and popular restaurant, and it’s kind of strange that Pappas only has one of these around.
