2 arrested after high-speed chase with stolen truck in SE Houston

HOUSTON – Two people were arrested early Monday morning after police say a stolen pickup led them on a high-speed chase through southeast Houston.

According to the Houston Police Department, Eastside patrol units attempted to stop an older, red Dodge Ram around 2 a.m. in the 3700 block of Elgin Street in the Third Ward, not far from the University of Houston. The driver refused to pull over, officials said, and a pursuit began.

Investigators said the chase reached speeds of nearly 90 mph as the suspects weaved through several major streets, including SSGT Macario Garcia Drive, Telephone Road, South Wayside, and the Gulf Freeway feeder…
